Company History
Bagdad Roller Mills was built and furnished by the Richmond City Mill Works in 1884 for a cost of $8,238.45. The first owners were the Bayne Brothers through 1908. The mill was sold to a Mr. Bates (history uncertain), then to Eugene Guest and Morgan Scobee in 1912. Following a bad crop in 1913, Peoples Bank forclosed in 1914.
Mr. R.L. Harrison bought the mill which then became known as R.L. Harrison and Sons in 1914

for the sum of $4,000. He named his best grade of flour "White Lily." Mr. Harrison had two sons, Coleman and Miller Boone. Coleman worked at the mill until 1921 at which time he went into the ministry. Miller Harrison then came to work at the mill, serving as manager until his death in 1975. The mill property is still owned by the Harrison family.
During the early years, the mill supplied surrounding areas with ground corn meal and wheat flour, and supplied the town of Bagdad with electricity at night. When food stamps replaced the government-subsidized food commodity program, the mill began marketing corn to Kentucky distilleries.

In 1958 the business was incorporated for the purpose of generating enough capital to add the feedmill and to make a permanent commitment to the feed industry.
Bagdad Roller Mills began marketing livestock and poultry feeds under the name Harrison's Rocket-Age Feed in the 1950's. Most feed is now sold under the name of Bagdad Feeds. The mill also deals in grain marketing, buying from local producers. Current storage capacity at the mill is 375,000 bushels.
